Meditation On A Candle Flame

4 posts in this topic

Do anyone have any experience with this kind of meditation where you just sit and focus on a candle flame?
I did it for 3 hours yesterday. I don't know if I felt that much of a difference afterwards. But it was not so painful that I thought it would be for a untrained mind.
Easier in comparison to sit and focus on the breath I think. But may not be as good. What's your opinion on meditation on objects?

certainly good for beginners, even though we should aim for no attachment to objects in any part of the consciousness spectrum:

  • visual
  • auditive
  • tactual
  • olfactory
  • gustatory
  • mindful
  • and ultimately, respiratory

@ajasatya Thank you. I get what you're saying.

The breath is merely a focal point. The breath is used because it is natural and it is always "there." So it is with waves, rustling trees, lit candles, city traffic, on an on.

Be good and true to you.

Enjoy your private time!
