Real Books Vs. Ebooks

8 posts in this topic

A bit of a non-issue (or maybe it is?), but what do you prefer and why?

I use both, but think it's easier and cleaner to take notes on ebooks, as they have functions which allow you to take and customise notes in a real easy way, without decimating the book.

But I've read somewhere that you're able to remember more information if reading from a physical book.

I think E-books can be great if you use an e-reader, but not if you use a computer as it generally has a lot of distractions mainly the internet.

But reading physical books is in my opinion the best because I find it more appealing to the eyes to look at paper rather than pixels. Also, it is easier to focus and you can highlight or take notes by hand while reading. Alternatively, you can also use an  electronic note taking program like evernote or onenote which I prefer as I can write more in less time compared to writing notes by hand.

E-book reader for the win! I mostly read from my e-book reader but I like physical books as well. Maybe in the future there won't be books in physical format so we won't cut so many trees to produce the paper for them. Just my imagination tho!!! :D

Audio-books! That way I can learn while I do work on the house or drive. I have to do those things anyway so why not kill two birds with one stone.

E-Books cos I'm kind of a nerd for tech. It's so convenient. I have one of the old kindle touch's from years ago without a backlight. Was one of the best purchases I ever made, although nowadays I just use my smart phone until I get a newer ebook reader.

It's really nice having all your reading in one place. Lighting isn't an issue and you set it to your best readability. + bookmarks and chapters as buttons.

Makes 'physical' books even nicer when you do read them. It's nice to have favourites in print for novelty and special feeling.

Ebooks, because in these times they are easy to read on Laptop/Phone/Tablet. Easy to transport and take them with you or access maybe the kindle-cloud on your phone. And also they are easier to buy. One click and you can read them.

Doesn't make any difference. The information is exactly the same.

Audiobooks have some practical benefit though as you can listen to them on the move.
