Meditation Program

5 posts in this topic

I have a problem that keeps me back from making a meditation habbit. I tried several times but this stopped my combo. I meditate before I go to bed, at 11-12pm. The next morning, I wish that I am up at 7 so I won't be late at school and miss the bus.  Anyway, my problem is that when I go to meditate,  I am very very tired. So,  I say to miself that I should rest a bit (5 minutes or so) than go to meditate. Well, I did so and fell asleep. The next day, I said to myself that I should stay only 3 minutes, not to fall asleep. I doubled the time, and when the alarm came, I didn't hear it. And sometimes, when I get to meditate, when I force myself to do it, without resting before,I fell asleep when meditating (with the eyes closed, when doing the mindfulness meditation)

How do i overcome this? I also tried to fall asleep faster, and to wake up at 4:30 am to meditate, but that didn't work either. What do I have to do?

I guess it's good to start slowly. But I want to move the mountains someday, so I supposed I start with this then I go with something harder. But I guess I'll take your advice. Anyway, I don't think once a week will be enough to make vizual progress. I will do everyday, for at least 20 minutes. Thank you man! Have a great life Internet buddy :)

I may have missed something but - why are you meditating so late when your body is winding down? Why don't you meditate during the day, or figure out your rhythm and choose a time when your body is most alert? Here's some things you can try- Go for a run after school, play basketball, or whatever kind of sport you like, wake up your body, then meditate? Right after a shower? Do 10 minutes of yoga before and get your blood flowing, a few sun salutations and you will be ready to go, really stretch and open the body. Try it outside in the sun. Dont do it when you are tired and when your body is telling you it's time for sleep. Sit upright in a chair, keep your back straight and high and try with eyes open. You just need to experiment with different times of the day and different styles til you find what works for you, and definitely 20 minutes a day to start.
