19. Fresh Start. Directionless.

Hi, I'm Montay.

I'm 19 years of age and new to this whole "forum" thing.

I've continued a daily 20min (mindfulness) meditation habit first thing in the morning; three (3) months going strong.

The long and short of it:

The idea of self mastery has always been a very intriguing concept to me, useful enough to make a main priority of it. It's already helped me in so many ways. Unconfident was be a word that I could easily relate with. But now my confidence has transcended in comparison. I don't say this to brag or boast, just as an example from my personal life of how much is possible to transform one's life in such a calculated way.

I got a taste of self development...

So now I'm here, just graduated high school and ready to take on the world. The goal is Life Design, right? To create whatever world you want for yourself. Well I want my life to be a direct reflection of my values (love, fun, spontaneity, freedom, creativity). I know this is possible for me, and that I'm capable enough. But I'm just not sure where to start. I want something meaningful to take up my time. To create something, to learn a skill, embark on a journey, there are so many options. So many different directions one may take, how can you possibly be expected to make such a crucial choice at this age with little experience of life. As a guide, I've been told to follow my interests.

Meditation is interesting, although not always exciting. Psychology is absolutely fascinating, I love talking to people and understanding the way they work. Not sure which activity keeps me more in the moment, an interesting conversation or playing around making music. New experiences are also quite thrilling, last year I dropped everything to go explore Thailand and Panama, best decision of my life.

But I don't want to be a monk, or a psychologist, or a philosopher. I want to impact the world, through education or creation I do not know. Maybe both?

I guess I'm just asking for some ideas/guidance. I've been watching Leo's stuff for a little while, enough to really respect the work he's doing. The information I've received from him is invaluable, and I agree with him on a lot of his ideas. So I figure a place where like minded people gather would be a good place to ask for some advice.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this.

Anything helpful would be greatly appreciated :)

Minimalism is the key to freedom and choice.

Do something you like and find what you really want to do along the way.  Dont ever stop reading and dont ever stop learning.

Travel.  Learn about culture, people, but ultimately yourself.  You will learn the ultimate skill of self reliance along the way.

Don't rush into any career path.  Always stay away from the shackles of debt.

And finally, wear a condom.
