Attitude On Competition

2 posts in this topic

I want to know what the actualized community think of competition. Everything to some extent is driven by competition and not exclusively to careers, sports, academics etc.

I'm competing right now for your attention out of the thousands of other threads on here!

A few questions to consider:

- How do you deal with competition?

- How can a person rise above competition?

- Is competing something to enjoy or something that's simply an unpleasant way to get things done?

Competition has increased a lot through out the years. I doubt your parents had to stress as hard to stay a float as you may have to now.

I was compelled to write this after trying my hand at freelancing as well as watching Planet Earth II.

Personally I think competition is horrible. It's a instinctive and primitve force that makes it hard to enjoy life.

Please share your thoughts.

@Preango

How do you deal with competition?

I don't care about it. I used to be very competitive always asking and comparing grades with others in school, then I stopped. As, it's meaningless and it results in fear, as you are always fearful of losing if you are number 1, preventing you from enjoying life. So, I don't compete, but if someone has something useful I can add it to the list of things I want. And wish them the best, to prevent my ego growing.

How can a person rise above competition?

Raise his/her consciousness this can be done through meditation.  Which may also allow you to transcend selfish motives e.g. money or sex.

Pleasant or unpleasant?

Competing, as I said can be unpleasant if you are number 1, as it will leave you in constant fear and stress that others are always trying to become better than you, which allows you no time to simply be happy and enjoy the beauty of life.  But, if you are at the bottom of the competition ladder, then I suppose you could utilise it to motivate/inspire yourself, but it has a cost to it like I said. Personally, I have a life purpose, so I don't compete with others I compete with myself.

parents forcing you to compete?

Competition seems like a rat race to meet, just rats in cages jumping through hopes in order to get cheese. If you don't like it become the master observing the rat race, not one of the rats competing. But, if you do want to compete try compete with yourself!

P.s I wanted to watch a movie today or go for a walk do you want to come? xD
