So I guess the good part of a slowly dying of old age is you'll get one last spiritual awakening.

@Blackhawk Well, I imagine that people who die young and quickly have no time to transcend the ego. That's why I specifically said "old people slowly dying of old age."

But then I guess that some of them don't get NDE's either. Who knows why...

Yeah many humans awaken only then, but the point is, this is not natural, not even aging.

@Goldzilla I never said this was the only way of awakening. Just that awakening has a natural tendency to occur, the longer you're alive.

my succession and affairs are all sorted and i am perfectly happy either way

You also have a relative life, that had a beginning and an end. Never seen someone die? What makes you think your ego-self will never go through that?

IF you die now, you will realize that you are not in the life nor have a body. It is crazy but now is before birth. And none of these are sentences.

I get your point, that does not eliminate the truth that Death is a social human made construct. If you had the God realization you would see this. I don't follow the cult of death in what concerns me. I'm here to speak the truth and nothing more. Is your choice to end or to continue. 

Now, pushing the old paradigm of death is unwise. No wonder people zzzzzzzzzz, and believe they seen the truth.

Seriously, if we consider duality is real, how do we know what is we, knowing, seeing. If we assume that they are words that we learn, what is it voice, sound, letter, where is it? Where is the air that we are breathing? When we think where is the thinking? What is life, 4 letters or sound? How can we learn, does our so called brain sucks something to learn? Does brain takes an action? If we say All these are illusion but what is an illusion, and what is a what?
