The Universe is already unified. It only appears not to be because of your own survival bias.

Divest from the conceptual. Experience the actual.

If there were no resistance, the journey would just end instantly, meaning no apparent journey would even begin, since it’d be over as soon as it began. You’d expect resistance as one of the appearances of perfection. Resistance is an expression of absolute truth; wholeness.

@Holygrail Resistance is an essential element in the creation of the experience the universe or god is exploring. Imagine if there was no contrast on your television. It would just be a white screen. The contrast is what creates the rich depth of images. Resistance creates a great diversity and depth of unique experiences.

Resistance is a human construct. God did not invent this, this is what free will is all about. The freedom to go against life. God in other words is what Life is, what brings you to awakening, that wich helps you go into harmony.

Resistance is the denying of what GOD is.

I think it's the inevitable result of the illusion of separation, if we imagine ourselves to be separate, tiny fragments in an inconceivably vast universe, it's inevitable that we feel fear - and fear is at the root of resistance. And I think this resistance is absolutely necessary for our survival (it's the foundation of the ego-structure, which we need in order to function in the world), up to the point that we become conscious enough that we can allow it to release.

Well, God is humanity so.

@Holygrail resistance to something happens before you realise it. Go quicker son

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

resistance is reluctance

resonance is rejoicing

are you reluctant or are you rejoicing

to give up you

yeah but simultaneously within the unification, there also "appears" to be division and resistance towards reunification like right wing groups opposing immigration. i think  division and resistance is just the same thing as unity as you said.

yeah im starting to see that resistance against reunification to maintain division is just the same thing as the total reunification containing every possible division and that division/resistance is really just an illusion.

We call what is ungiving "strong".

Resistance is like walls, they protect, guide and confine depending on your perception. Resistance is not felt as resistance until there is resistance TO resistance, until those same walls are perceived as confining. This is actually impossible, having resistance to resistance.

When you're 5, having a step stool to reach the sink and brush your teeth is enabling and liberating. When you're 10, it's a pain in the ass thing in the way you'd trip over. You get rid of it. Unless it never occurs to you that it was there only to assist you, and now that it doesn't, you can get rid of it.

enen though unity will always contain division since they're both the same, "achieving" closer unity terrifies because learning that its more and more is more great than being smaller and more divided. maybe the expansion of self is love and fear/resistance is just the deluded flip side of the feeling of love. maybe fear and love is the same thing while simulatenously being different.

Fear of Love

In simple words this is the main reason. There is no fear in love, harmony, oneness, stop the delusion of marrying love and fear.

You could add concrete to a brownie recipe and then ask why it’s baked in. The answer would be it isn’t ‘baked in’ per se, you add it. (Or not)

It isn’t. The belief in you and a universe is resistant. The belief seems so concrete, but is the resistance. Reunification is only a belief contingent upon the belief of separation.

i forgot to dissect that duality so ultimately there is no resistance. as i mentioned in another answer, unity is all of its divisions so resistance/division is just an illusion

hm, this may be conflating resistance with personal boundaries (likes/dislikes). Maybe the two are the same? Our resistance is our boundaries; yet, our boundaries need to be reassessed when they prevent expansion. So maybe resistance is a boundary that prevents expansion. But the short answer is really that resistance is homeostasis.

As @RickyFitts pointed out, resistance is the function of the ego to maintain the ego. The ego's use of 'homeostasis' results in– what looks and feels like– resistance. This is the ego's effort to maintain what is comfortable, known, and safe for survival.
