"Do you believe in God?"

18 posts in this topic

What do you answer if somebody ask you if you believe in God? And I don`t mean the God of the religions but God as Good.

I am not sure what I believe and I am not sure what to answer.

I say yes but that I'm not religious or anything

I don't like to talk about awakening or spirituality with people because it's always useless

Well the thing is most advanced spiritual guys like the Buddha don´t believe in God, he is more like an atheist.

I have to soon explain my beliefs to my Catholic family.

What I want to get across to them is basically:

I believe in god, but I don’t believe god hands out merits to people who follow rules. I don’t believe God sends people to hell, people don’t have to dodge the devil, and don’t even need to follow rules. God made our nature good. God also doesn’t have a gender.

@RedLine  Why ? How they didn't believe in God if they experienced "Reality" ?

Because they see God as an object which can be trascended so Reality is more like Nothing, wich is not good nor bad; it is more similiar to the atheist narrative

nothing is not the highest truth

it is everything

duality must be resolved

god is everything which is the same thing as love

ps Buddha avoided the word god since he knew the baggage the ideology the trouble this word conveyed

No, I don't believe in God.

Belief is a byproduct of the conditioned mind. It is nothing more than a conceptual trap. It is the opposite of Self-realization, which is the direct discovery of God within yourself, beyond belief.

Just because God loves you doesn't mean it is going to shape the cosmos to suit you. God loves you so much that it will shape you to suit the cosmos.

Moksha said it.

And from a point of view after discovering God, there are several thoughtforms or entities than will help one not lose the focus of oneself, take it this way. This includes, i am that i am mantra, Christ, Shiva, Satan, Lucifer.

Good question. I generally respond with something like “no belief required.” Generally people don’t ask that unless they’re already beyond small talk, so it’s not weird to just respond that way.

Regardless if someone answers yes or no the very question brings up the idea of "a belief of God". It is impossible to not believe in God once this question is brought into your awareness because even the lack of the belief in God implies the possibly of God's existence therefore the belief is still held within "empty" space. No amount of non-duality jargon can get you around this one, though silence would be the closest answer to non-belief.

If I was to answer I would say my perceived awareness tells me God could be Good, but not only God could be _____, but God is. Not only "God is" but

God

Is

But still, invoking an entity is not only a big deal, is a more powerful tool than psychedelics.
