ego is pushy and stubborn

10 posts in this topic

I'm nervous to tackle what's called the ego, or egoic mind. Still trying to research and make a distinction between Self and the ego. Are our ego voice different? Mine is tyrannical. As far as I know I can be selfish, also self-criticising. Humility is there but I think it's a blur of low self esteem too.

I have been reading about ego death, does it mean we create a new ego which isn't negative and layered with so many conditioning/trauma/insecurities?

Those who have dissolved their ego, what are your best techniques? And which specific meditation?

Thank you

Tackling is for the opposing team in a game of football.

Meditation is without opposition.

(But thought makes it so).

Pushy and stubborn are self referential thoughts, like a mirror is not hair

You are not these, which is precisely why these thoughts feel as they do, and you’re lookin for peace.

What is an ego you never heard of?

Listen to your feelings, if a thought doesn't feel good - it's ego, as simple as that. Example of the thoughts that may feel bad: "I can't do it", "I hate him", "The situation shouldn't be like that".

Let's call it a "pure ego". So, there is no agenda so to speak for a pure ego - "everything is needed, nothing is important". In other words, whatever comes in appearance is needed - welcomed with a deep gratitude, but it's not important - the fact of existence is.

Daily morning meditation with focusing on a deep breathing, relaxation, bumping the duration to 1 hour over time.

@WelcometoReality If someone tells me what to do and I don't listen, then I get really obstinate and be hard on myself to find the problem. I try to advise others so they get better but when they don't listen, I will still try to fix things that need time, and not my input..

o.O i suppose.. this is the answer to my question then. To go with the flow and stop being like sherlock holmes about spirituality.

You apparently dissolve the ego only to find there was actually nothing happening.

Isn’t that the most insane possibility? Or maybe... Might that be the case? ;)

Btw, this is directly from the absolute. But even “directly from the absolute” is a position... to you. There’s literally no way out because there’s no one imprisoned as an ego.

And... this is apparently coming from the absolute tied to a particular body. Nothing makes sense. But the simplicities are just as absolute as anything. So create your own reality, it’s beyond possible. You’re doing it now.

Being able to dissolve the ego on a daily basis is in my opinion the key to happiness. It is not easy because if you analyze what I just said, it is: I am the ego, I want to be happier, therefore I am going to dissolve the ego, so myself. the ego cannot do it. he can only understand himself in the deepest way possible, and then give up the compulsive need to be in control. The usual thing is that to get to this, some experience with psychedelics is necessary that dissolves the ego in a violent way. Once the ego has seen that not being in control doesn't mean death, it will be easier to relax and dissolve with meditation. the point is that when the ego dissolves it is not replaced by another better ego but by emptiness, the present moment without more, without content. nothing to hold onto or control. it is very challenging for the ego, but that is freedom. you have to get used to it like a climber gets used to being on a wall. based on practice

"The biggest ego trip is getting rid of your ego, and of course the joke of it all is that your ego does not exist." - Alan Watts

What is mistaken to be the 'thinker of thoughts' is just more thought. The 'experiencer of experience' is just more experience.
