Reminded of nature's logic and of survival

4 posts in this topic

I don't want this post to come across as edgy, or cliche relative to this forum by using the word survival. I was thinking recently that because modern life (my life) is so cushy, I'm shielded in a bubble from nature in a comfort zone. A bubble of technology and convenience. If this is the case then discipline only becomes more important.

When I feel alive or have felt jolted alive, I'm reminded of the sink or swim nature of life. Does anyone else feel as though they've had to find a way to remind themselves of this in order to push on? Or do you think this approach is complete bullshit? Does the approach break for you due to being limited, since you end up being filled with fear, and working/striving unconsciously?

Unconsciously working yourself obviously isn't an ideal or good thing obviously.

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

Yes kind of. It's like the thing is to consciusly put yourself in another situation other than your room and computer

have to take life in your own hands and live your own life on your own terms

after 8 hours sleep the first four hours of my day are 2 hrs meditation one hour yoga one hour exercise, so half the day is gone and i've set myself up for a perfect second 12 hours no matter what happens

don't let the world and technology push you around into their patterns

empower yourself so that nothing can derail you

Yep. That's why one of my ultimate goals in life is to have a land of my own that I can farm and live off from regardless of other people and technology.

Good old agriculture is the way to go. It's healthy, it's natural, it's guaranteed.

Foolish until proven other-wise ;)
