Adeptus makes a good point (reality isn't an illusion)

@Inliytened1 doesn't it seem a little 'pot calling the kettle black' to say 'so an so will be stuck in materialism'?  Who are you talking about, if not some 'material organism who will be stuck in materialism'..

My point is, if you think someone is stuck in materialism, then you are also stuck in materialism, because you think there is a 'material someone' who is 'stuck in materialism'.

No you are conflating the absolute with the relative here...yes he is God tricking himself into believing he is a human.  As am I.  He is me..  It's all entertainment but within the context of the dream is where my post comes from.

@Inliytened1 not exactly 'conflating' the two, but transcending the duality of 'the separation between 'absolute' and 'relative'.

Everyone wants a better version or perspective of reality.

Reality must feel so insulted ?

With regards to Adeptus, again relatively speaking, this would be of no help to him because he must first discover the duality before transcending it.   He must first discover that physical reality exists within Consciousness and there is nothing independent of Mind.

@Inliytened1 who, exactly, must discover that physical reality exists within Consciousness and there is noting independent of Mind?  Some physical organism called Adeptus?  If you think this, isn't it you who must discover that there is nothing independent of Mind? That there is no independent 'Adeptus' who must discover anything??

@Carl-Richard is 'seeming real' (immaterial dream of forms) different from being real (material)?   If so, how?

For the materialist, there is a difference, but it is merely postulated to be that way. There is no good argument for it.

What is a 'materialist' to someone who is not a 'materialist'?

To me, it seems like you're conflating the concept of material (substance) with the concept of form (appearance). To me, what you're saying is that a person appears to be displaying materialistic tendencies, but that doesn't mean you necessarily believe that that person is made out of matter or is grounded in a substance that exists independent of appearances. The materialists assumption is an additional step.

@Carl-Richard what's the difference between something 'actually being material' (substance) and something 'appearing to be material'(appearance)?

I'm conflating the two, because there is no difference.

The difference between God waking up and not :)

@Inliytened1 doesn't matter..

Is this forum real, or does it just seem that way?

It doesn't matter, you see?

There is no difference, yet you just called a person a materialist :P

The difference between God being asleep and awake has nothing to do with mattering or not.

because I'm a 'materialist/idealist'... I have no qualms about suggesting that reality is imaginary... and it's imaginarily real.

@Inliytened1 if a difference doesn't 'matter'.. then what difference does it make?

Sounds like you have the view that nothing matters, but never really had direct consciousness of Truth.  That's perfectly fine, as I said to have direct consciousness of Truth doesn't make one special.  It just IS.

So what you're saying is that you're not making any sense. Ok :)

Saying reality is 'imaginary/real' makes more sense than thinking some imaginary person is 'really confused'. (an imaginary person could be imaginarily confused, or a real person can be really confused).

That's like suggesting a person in my dream is having strange thoughts.  "I know [Adeptus] is just a character in my dream, but he is really thinking some strange thoughts, and I should convince other characters in my dream of this".
