Reading the Western Canon Leads to Self-Knowledge?

He makes a fairly compelling argument that reading the Western Canon leads to Self-Knowledge. 

I think a great many academics would agree with his position.

I've already come to my own conclusions regarding the worth of the "great books," but @Leo Gura and others, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

In practice reading Western canon leads to profound dualistic self-deception.

The worst thing about it is that it gives you a sense of false understanding. The more you read the more you start to think you understand reality, when you are really clueless about what reality is.

Western canon will not lead to an understanding of consciousness, God, Truth, Love, or Infinity. To understand these things requires you burn Western canon to the ground.

One trip on 5-MeO-DMT is worth more than the entire Western canon.
