Study spirituality? Or just practice it?

2 posts in this topic

Is there any point in studying spirituality? (already watched several of Leo's videos and I have had a few deep experiences on psychedelics)

Is it okay to just practice meditation, pranayama/asana, have good health etc.?

As long as one kept practicing daily and kept in balance the other sub-systems (relationships, career etc.) of one's life is there any trap in the practices themselves as long as decent methods are chosen?

What might be a sign that a technique is not working short-term-long-term or that one of these traps, if they exist, has been fallen into in one's meditation/spiritual practice?

What are the functions of "spirituality" in a life chosen to be devoted to serving Love and Love's plan/progress in society?

I have a personal intention to be more balanced with how much studying I do and to study what is most practical and relevant to my life. How strongly would you recommend a young (low-low/medium level of spiritual development) person like me to read "mastering core teachings of the budha."? I bought that one how long ago, jeeze, and still haven't read it. It's so fat and intimidating, is it even practical?

I know I also haven't watched "..dangers of spirituality" and "misapplying spirituality" but I don't know if those are the answers to these questions.

If you need any more information on the questions or my personal life, please ask. I am looking for answers.

@Leo Gura ? Sorry I always tag you but I am sifting through trust issues and you are pretty much number one for me to trust answers from.

Thanks all

It is a balance, if you study too much then you can get lost in maps, but if you study too little then you might get lost in a trap that someone could have pointed out to you if you read their work.

Daniel Ingrams book points out a lot of traps that meditators get stuck in. I often go back to it and re read stuff. Usually I read a book all the way threw then go back to it when I feel I am somewhere where the information could be of help. There are many traps that you could get stuck in, so it is important to know about them, & to grasp them expirencially by actually practicing.

So yeah, balance. You will get a feel for how balanced you are the more you practice & the more you study.

The how is what you build, the why is in your heart.
