What Is God? My Thoughts

31 posts in this topic

Nothingness can not be experienced. 'Nothing' is not an experience. In the same way we can't imagine to be unconscious. So saying 'God' is nothingness doesn't really make sense. I guess what people mean when they say nothingness is 'pure awareness'. Like empty imagination...no thoughts, no experience even, but this recursion that is awareness?

Strange, last day I was thinking exactly at the same concept:  I am related to "God" like a wave is related to the ocean. That was in the first half of the day, the second half I tried to figure out why "Gods" kill each other.

I think about the same issues. Why, if this is all God, is it happening like this?

I think that the confusion lies somewhere in the notion that the Abhramic cultures with their monotheistic God have left residues of untruth in our minds.  They projected an anthromophorpic projection onto reality and tried to fit God into their ideas of what God should be.

Maybe this came from misinterpreting insights from non dual experiences? It's easy to form a notion of a benevolent God from having some non dual ephiphanies.

But what God really is , is just a set of physical, psychological and moral laws that do nothing else except keep its own system in tact.

So I think this accounts for killing. This manifestation is obviously intelligent and it seems to be able to sustain it's laws through violence.  I mean, I wonder how else would it manage itself, unless it had this built in system where any violations of its nature are going to be met with the exact amount of deterrent and punishment necessary to keep the thing stable?

You know what waves in the ocean do when they meet ? If in phase, they build a bigger wave, if they are out of phase they kill each other. Same with humans. That's my theory.

I don't think it's a matter of various laws as such, or of managing violations. If one side of a see-saw goes down, the other side goes up. No violation occurs, god doesn't need to consult his rulebook or calculator or standard model, and rush in to make things right again. It's just the inescapable condition of duality. It's never wrong to begin with, it just does what it does.

xD

1+1 = 2

That's a law

Would you like me to explain how this formula makes up the fabric of existence?

Hey Bizzare. I am very interested in 1+1=2.

Specifically, why do you think that's a law and how would it explain the fabric of existence ? Just give a hint, I don't need a very accurate demonstration.

I am asking this because in doing one of Leo's exercises, I found this formula as one of the beliefs I keep for granted.

But when I thought better I realized that, actually, in the real world, we can't be sure that there is  ANY situation in which 1+1=2. I mean physics says that's not the case, and I don't know much about non-duality or other direct experience methods, but I am pretty sure that they somehow reject that 1+1=2.

And what was your conclusion? Just curiosity

Waves combine each other in two ways: addition when in phase and subtraction when out of phase.

But now I see further: if reality is infinite than there must be an infinite number of instances of "God" , with an infinite pool of consciousnesses, from 0 to infinite, so that for any person in the world there is another one with complementary skills, knowledge, consciousness and so on, so that the sum of them all is God.

So if your are very advanced in your path, more than certain there exist  a person somewhere very low in his or her progress. That person might kill persons like you without much regret.

Awesome, I totally agree with that. Hard to explain to unconscious people, right?

@Christian God is whoever or whatever you want it to be. Who is to say my ideas are of God are right and your is wrong vice versa? Everyone has their own interpretation and whatever we all choose to believe is right in our own individual eyes.
