Mummification as a spiritual practice

3 posts in this topic

Mummification is considered an advanced form of bondage, where someone is wrapped up or “cocooned” and therefore completely immobilized, and submit to total sensory deprivation for extended periods of time.

People like mummification because it is completely giving up control, or enjoy the feeling of helplessness, or they like the tight wrappings creating a womb-like environment where they feel safe and relaxed.

But it takes a certain level of mental strength to be able to do this without succumbing to fear, claustrophobia, fear of being trapped, or panic.

Now imagine doing this for hours. Could you do it?

I think this could be an affective, yet unorthodox, spiritual practice. Training oneself to fully let go and surrender.

Obviously don't try something like this at home. It is a dangerous practice, that should only be done by professionals that know how to take every precaution to ensure the safety of the participant being wrapped.

This has nothing to do with spiritual practice.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.
