Mindfulness Practice

3 posts in this topic

Hey, whenever I label mental talk ( Hear In, Gone, Hear rest ) in mindfulness practice I notice that it almost always ends the moment I label it "Hear In" and the thing that makes me so annoyed about it is that almost immediately after that I have to label "Gone" and it makes me worried that I am doing something wrong.  Is it fine if the moment I note a sensory experience it stops? am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance!

It's fine. The point of mindfulness practice is that you NOTICE these things. You notice when there's inner talk, you notice when it vanishes, you notice when there isn't any. The labels are just there to make sure you're actually noticing and not self-deceiving, and to help maintain your concentration.

I also have a hard with mindfulness practice. I don't know on what to focus on: the impermanence of the phenomena or my memory of when I first became conscious of the phenomena. I think that, with practice, questions like ours will automatically dissolve. Some guidance can be helpful for us to save time though.
