How do I get rid of the thought of eternal recurrence?

4 posts in this topic

@Leo GuraI was introduced to eternal recurrence by Nietzsche about 7 months ago and ever since then the thought of having to relive my same life again has kinda hunted me in the back of my mind because for some odd reason I believe it to be true. I understand that life I lived moment to moment but all I know is this life and who is to say that being that I am what I am that I won’t be who I am again but maybe I am missing something and my thinking is flawed, please help someone?

It is quite simple. Stop thinking it. Because it is not true

And of course it is hard for me to convince anybody about this truth, since you know... Beware!, But if something is hunting you and makes you suffer, it it because that "truth" is not true. And other reasonings would tell you that your ego is not accepting it. It is really not that, I hope you believe me

Just because a piece of knowledge elicits suffering on you, does not mean that piece of knowledge is incorrect.

''I hope you believe me'' is a very poor argument.

@Ghzem Observe the thought and observe the emotions it elicits without getting attached to the thought.

I think eternal recurrence might be true, and it's a horrific thought.

But I stopped thinking about it because as far as I know it's unprovable.
