I Just Did The Neti Neti Method.

7 posts in this topic

Hey all.

So I just completed Leo's video, 'Enlightenment Guided Inquiry - The Neti Neti Method'.

I struggle to sit in one position for that amount of time so I changed positions a few times because my back ached. I ended with lying down on the floor belly up with a book supporting my head, I had to keep my eyes open for a lot of it to avoid falling asleep, which I almost did (The video wasn't boring, i'm just really tired). Anyway, this isn't really too relevant to it all but just a bit of background on how I listened to the video.

Nothing really earth shattering happened, how ever as I had my eyes open the ceiling was changing colour slightly, and then I closed my eyes and saw these strange burst of vivid colour like paint splatters.

What I wonder is, was a genuine experience, or if it was my ego telling me that I HAVE to have some sort of experience and therefore pushed it into my consciousness..

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Vivid colours are very common on the path of enlightenment, if you talk to the peeps here, and buddhist monks. Great work keep it up!

If you do netti netti every day for 1 hour, man your consciousness will change I kid you not in 1 month max. Its an amazing method.

@electroBeam Wow. That's so nice to hear actually. I'm very happy. Could I use Leo's video every day? Or will the words lose meaning if I know what's coming? What's another way?

In my humble opinion the colours mean nothing and you shouldn't get excited about them. It could just be from the fact you've had your eyes open for a long time - I get it a lot during SDS. The more you cling to these experiences the more you miss the true self because you're clinging to something within experience. I realise this is difficult not to do as you want to feel like you're progressing.

I just remember Leo saying way back in early 2015 that he could feel himself getting close to enlightenment - I've used this to put myself in check when I tell myself I'm progressing - this is a thought and if you listen to it you're going down the wrong road IMO. It's only in the present moment you can see the truth - everything else is BS created by the mind.

I'd check out Leo's video on how to become enlightened for a daily practice you can do. I'd also check out Naked Reality's channel - he's enlightened and has some great videos on the subject.

Cool! I have been putting off watching that video for months! I will try it! I wonder what it is... Kind of like a strange name "Neti Neti". My guess: questioning our identity over and over again. I will see the video, but I don't think I'll focus on that for now. I'm concentrating my energy on Shikatanza. If I get the desire of doing this method, I will. Anyway... just some rumination here :P

@RossE Thanks for keeping it real! I don't think it's from keeping my eyes open for an hour though. On average, I have my eyes open for about 15 hours a day! :P

@Gabriel Antonio Thanks for your response! Yes, it is basically that. What is Shikatanza out of curiosity? :-D
