How to cure bloating?

Can untreated SIBO lead to other diseases? What could it cause?

Yes it can, depending on the severity of it and what else is going on I wouldn't be surprised if IBD came out of it or disruption to the gastrointestinal nervous system. Hard to say, you can probably google consequences of untreated SIBO. Malnutrition and reduced absorption of nutrients would be the most immediate thing

Sorry, I don’t quite understand.

 basically what I mean is that a lot of what the OAT test is based on is research in petri-dish, basically you create a culture in a lab and then dip stuff into it and observe what happens (this is called in-vitro), so not real human data, often not even animal data. We don't know what a lot of those metabolites mean, we cannot interpret them correctly. A lot of practitioners do not care about this and they order expensive tests for their clients because they get commissions (not saying your naturopath does this but it is a common practice, highly unethical in my opinion)

if it is SIBO and it is confirmed, you can work on that and it is possible to heal that if the protocol is structured right.

@Michael569
Thanks for the info.

While I wait for all my other test results, what do you think would help with anxiety, OCD, overthinking/rumination, and malaise? I really want to try things I haven’t tried yet. It’s f***ing tough dealing with this.

@Vision it is very much possible that anxiety is connected to the gut and the same is malaise. Maybe you are not eating as much due to the gut problems and as such that is impacting both your mood and your overall wellbeing?  I wrote a 2 part series about the connection between mental health and gut, you can check it out on my blog  but there is a whole other component with anxieties of psycho/spiritual wellbeing such as just being happy where you are at life, doing what you want to be doing etc.

Since I never feel satiated or energised after eating, I think I’ve actually been eating too much. I think I could eat all day and still not feel satiated, it’s like I’m leptin resistant or something.

Thanks for linking your blog! I’ll be reading that for a while when I’m free.

@Ora Have you cured your SIBO?

Yeah. Took about 3-4 months but I stopped getting extreme bloating and gas, which I had for 2 years. The biggest leaps in improvement was when I would do a 5 day fast or olive oil detox before starting my antibacterial regimin.
