Question about how heaven is

14 posts in this topic

So why does Leo say you will get bored of being in the heaven of the perfect godhead .if reality has infinitVariety why couldn't god be in "heaven" and enjoy it's infinite variety of things forever instead of forgetting its god all over again

God does it "forever" in that there's no time there, so God creates time and space and the like to have something to do. It's not like God is literally doing that in time as you'd normally think of it. It's beyond time.

In a sense, God never leaves Heaven. This is Heaven right now, but with no one in it, one could say... So if it seems like there's someone living in separation, it might seem like something other than Heaven. It's still Heaven, but for no one.

@Nate0068 perhaps it helps to understand that words like 'you' and 'gets bored' and 'godhead' are metaphors.

Consider how we explain how lightning travels.. We might say that the lightening wants to take the path of least resistance, but we understand that lightning doesn't actually 'want', and 'lightning' is just a word we use to conceptualize what's going on...

The map is not the territory.

There is no 'you' in the normal use of the word, who gets 'bored' in the normal use of the word...

"Everything will be okay in the end. If everything is not okay, it's not the end."

"I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people."

Because heaven is only defined as heaven by virtue it is unalike to hell. The contrast of perfection “bad” is what makes what we believe to be good, “good” in itself. Really with an unbarred heaven you would be prescribed to a reality where no contrast could be made to even classify anything enjoyable or remotely heavenly, as what would it be framed by and contrasted against to know it to be so? You only enjoy a thing because the opposite of it is not desired. Limits are what make a thing heavenly not the ability to not have them.

I don't remember when exactly sorry.
He used mostly a video game analogy, so if you don't play that's maybe why it got over your head.

The analogy is that in a video game, what is fun is to have limits and beat the game, not to easily go through it like it was a cruise.
So in a sense, God (you) find it more fun to live through a very limited form of life, in a very specific world which also has limits, so when you actually achieve something, it has meaning.

If you could beat the game you start to play with a cheatcode in the very first seconds, the game would lose all its meaning.
If you could have everything you want in your life right now, do everything you want, everytime you wanted, life would lose all its meaning.

Now that's just an analogy that's not the truth, but that's the closest Leo found on how to explain this in the last video.

It's worth saying that limitation does not equal separation.

While limitation is necessary to have an experience, separation is not necessary. And it's the game of separation that causes suffering.

Don't you think that it would be possible for God to have to create his work step by step, evolve from the most basic to the most complex because he can't do it any other way? More than a game to enjoy, it seems like an artistic creation in which there is enormous ambition and passion.

That's how games are done when the devs really care and have the freedom to do what they want.

That was just one analogy, you can use the same principle with movies, books, dreams, creating a business etc though, I just parroted what Leo said to answer the op :D

God can imagine "separate time and place" and create the whole shebang at once. It literally just happened right now. You just did it.

"The great way isn't difficult for those who are unattached to their preferences.

Let go of longing and aversion, and everything will be perfectly clear.

When you cling to a hairbreadth of distinction, heaven and earth are set apart.

If you want to realize the truth, don't be for or against.

The struggle between good and evil is the primal disease of the mind.

Not grasping the deeper meaning, you just trouble your minds serenity.

As vast as infinite space, it is perfect and lacks nothing.

But because you select and reject, you can't perceive its true nature.

Don't get entangled in the world; don't lose yourself in emptiness.

Be at peace in the oneness of things, and all errors will disappear by themselves.

If you don't live the Tao, you fall into assertion or denial.

Asserting that the world is real, you are blind to its deeper reality;

denying that the world is real, you are blind to the selflessness of all things.

The more you think about these matters, the farther you are from the truth.

Step aside from all thinking, and there is nowhere you can't go.

Returning to the root, you find the meaning;

chasing appearances, you lose there source.

At the moment of profound insight, you transcend both appearance and emptiness.

Don't keep searching for the truth; just let go of your opinions.

For the mind in harmony with the Tao, all selfishness disappears.

With not even a trace of self-doubt, you can trust the universe completely.

All at once you are free, with nothing left to hold on to.

All is empty, brilliant, perfect in its own being.

In the world of things as they are, there is no self, no non self.

If you want to describe its essence, the best you can say is "Not-two."

In this "Not-two" nothing is separate, and nothing in the world is excluded.

The enlightened of all times and places have entered into this truth.

In it there is no gain or loss; one instant is ten thousand years.

There is no here, no there; infinity is right before your eyes.

The tiny is as large as the vast when objective boundaries have vanished;

the vast is as small as the tiny when you don't have external limits.

Being is an aspect of non-being; non-being is no different from being.

Until you understand this truth, you won't see anything clearly.

One is all; all are one. When you realize this, what reason for holiness or wisdom?

The mind of absolute trust is beyond all thought, all striving,

is perfectly at peace, for in it there is no yesterday, no today, no tomorrow."
