An Obfuscation

So as you know leo has made videos and explained how everything is one and it's ego that makes differentiation between us and them.

Knowing this has made me a lot more compassionate, forgiving and understanding person towards people

I don't know what's the end goal or inference of knowing this but I assume that because if everything is one, everything is you and you would be compassionate and loving towards yourself. So i assume empathy, compassion and love is what it means.

But as I go around this world dealing with people they keep being a pain in my ass and act selfish, see good people as a means to an end and not people to cherish and be like them.

And recently i have also learned about Machiavellianism. (i remember leo saying doing what works takes you down the road of devilry and i kinda know why )

So in order to get success in life and achieve something big you will have to follow at least a little bit of Machiavellianism which is not preety. I wouldn't want people to be treated bad so that i get stuff done

On the one hand i have compassion and on the other hand i have what works.

How do you make sense of this?

There is no contradiction. But common self-survival and Truth might not be 'Parallel Pathways'.

In the world of self-survival, a lot of people manipulate or use others to serve their personal survival. They are lacking Consciousness and therefore hold an exclusive self (meaning they identify almost solely with their body and character traits or behaviors). From this vantage point it is also possible to forgive them for their 'devilry', because they lack Consciousness.

In the world of Truth, there is only you. Your sense of self is all-encompassing. These births expressions of love and compassion that are aligned with the Truth of who and what you really are. But this does not negate survival of the organism, and only the survival of the conceptual self. This level of Consciousness will sure affect the drive to pursue uncommon wealth, material success and so on. Seeing behind the illusion of the self may cut many motivations to accumulate or gain something that is not currently present. The self drive still exits, but is diminished, in a scope that is reflected by the new level Consciousness.

There is no contradiction, ultimately. Selfishness is not a problem. Selflessness is generally more fruitful, but selfishness adds flavor to the Freedom that is What Is; what many might call God.

There is even a valid view which sees compassion as complicity, because it reinforces the belief in personhood. But ultimately, that is of course not a problem either. I tend to generally err on the side of compassion (and selflessness), but not in every situation... however, that happens consciously -- that's the key, in my view.
