How Humankind Views the Order and Chaos of Being:

"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being." -- Carl G. Jung

Anarchy in 2021:

It's funny that most of life springs from desire.

Desire comes from an aching need. From desire comes fantasy. Who wouldn't like to live in a heaven on Earth?

The Hierarchy of Needs show us that some things are more... nourishing that others. Why? Because with each level the human story gets more and more... validated? Transcended, perhaps, although not to be too grandiose with the term.

We all feel pleasure but why do we specifically love going to movies? Or playing well-made video games, listening to well-produced, fresh-sounding music? Because we love quality stuff. Our senses can discern what's bad from good. Animals have this capability too but our cognition is far more advanced.

This cognition at the same time brings way more problems in front of us ALL THE TIME.

And this is why... we have news. Social media, lately. Global events always centered on problems. Also, our messy individual lives.

Back to fantasy.... It really makes us better 'animals' in the animal kingdom-hierarchical sense. We conquered the world and invented endless shit because of fantasy.

Nowadays, the world is so filled with endless sensory overload--news, music, tiktok, social media, cat videos, compilation videos, porn. Yet so many young people are depressed.

It's a crisis of need. That, of course, both involves meaning and fantasy.

My generation needs to know BOTH-- on an individual level. Then maybe some shared MOOD may arise, and this combined power might effectively bring about social change and stuff (like the 60's counterculture-- with all the drugs and sex and rock n' roll. And progressive values, of course.)

From this generation came ROCK N' ROLL AS WE DEFINE IT, YALL.
