Is life harder for good looking male or female?

77 posts in this topic

I have a friend who has a sister that is very pretty and she told me that her sister often complain to her that it's hard for her to make friends cause all the girls around her are afraid that she would steal away their boyfriend. It's the first time I hear things like that, I wonder if that's the case for all the good looking people?

Sometimes I watch reality tv shows and some female in those shows says things like, it's hard for them to find a good romantic partner because they often get objectified by males so it's hard to find someone that love them for who they are and not for the looks. I guess that could be the case for a lot of the good looking people? Same for males as well?

The good looking people has to overcome a lot of jealousy around them. And if some people nice to them because of their good looks that's not so good either.

So I'm guessing life is actually harder for good looking people, is that right?

One good thing of being good looking is that you don't suffer from low self esteem that some people suffer from being overweight etc. That's the only benefit I can come up with right now...

If it is people wouldnt bother so much about losing weight. Also, no preference for attractive people on advertisements and stuff. Just my 2 cents.

Although I've also read that people prefer "manufactured, egalitarian beauty" as opposed to natural beauty.

Probably a good example.

No!

Don't let people make you believe absurdities. There are so many benefits to being attractive!

Physiological and psychological health are what's truly beautiful in my eyes, if you're willing to give up either of those for what you believe will make you beautiful on the eyes of society / the person you're trying to attract, you're out of touch with reality and your own soul.

@Derek White what do you think are the main benefits? And do you think there’s any downsides at all?

I mean how other people treat you based on your looks, not how you think about yourself...

Talk about a quality problem :D

Hint to good looking people: if you want to make friends, maybe don't complain about how bad it is to be good-looking. Haha

Tell her that it is not her beauty that it is the problem but her huge ass ego.

Reminds me of people saying life is harder if you're more intelligent.

Altho there's more truth to that lol.

Either way, be grateful! :P

@Kay100 I don't think so, I think it's more about how a person feels about themself and their self-image. I think, generally speaking, good-looking people have an easier time with their self-image, especially before realizing that looks aren't as important as they've always believed them to be, but that's still completely relative

Lol, life is definitely better for good looking people. Harsh truth is people subconsciously like you more, you’re more like to get hired etc if you’re good looking. It’s kind of subconscious

@Kay100 Female definitely, she gets into laziness when she sells her body for looks. Just look at instagram models, Chaturbate models, pornstars, runways, etc, etc. Loses brain cells, relies on man to look after her.

Good-looking is obviously 100 percent subjective. A lot of group thinkers will call me wrong, but hey. Measure beauty.

The funny thing is it 100% is measurable. Facial proportions, body proportions, skin quality, bone mass, bone placement, eye width, eye slant, eye hooding, symmetry, just to name a few, are all markers of physical fitness, hormonal makeup, genetic quality and measureably attractive according to evolutionary psychology. Keep coping, though.

And there is a world of difference between how you are treated and what's offered to you according to how you look, just open your eyes and observe. It's almost comical how brutal it is, just gotta pay some attention. Not to mention the positive / negative feedback you receive based on your appearance throughout your life will snowball into completely differing psychological makeups, self esteem, experiences and entitlements, for better or worse, domino effecting your entire life situation and direction (relatively).

Lookism is deeply hardwired into us. Hell even after many awakenings I still find myself treating and valuing people completely differently based on appearance. I'm just conscious of and honest about it.

Theres about a million studies confirming lookism but you just gotta open your eyes tbh.

it's easy in the sense of being accepted by society.

although some of the most insecure people I have known in my life, were also very attractive.  they were extremely self conscious about their looks.

being both beautiful and secure would be the ultimate gift.

or simply being secure enough that you don't care what you look like would be even better.
