I've been burned in that regard a few times before and I'm doing my best to avoid that trap

At the end of the day you gotta dig deep and find the truth for yourself. It's like working out, somebody else can't do it for you. Maybe inspire you or shine some light on procedure. But after that it's all you.

Be still and know Bro:D

As I'm typing this I'm also beginning to notice how maybe all of these criticisms I'm projecting outward are somehow a mirror of something going on internally. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel like my internal dialogue and my resistance to enlightenment are telling somehow.

Every reaction to something externally can be referenced to something internally. A belief that isn't in line with reality will trigger a certain behavior. Spirituality is about becoming aware of those internal triggers. Usually it is a thought combined with a tension in the body, usually in the stomach region.

@ULFBERHT The thing is that if you don't follow enlightenment people will just tell you 'your ego is telling you not to follow it', which is just such a shitty thing to say to someone because it will put people in in a state of confusion, self-hate and self-denial. It is totally and utterly irresponsible and wrong (and here will come others telling me this is my ego speaking).

Also Leo said that not following enlightenment will be like chasing your tail for happiness if you don't go on the journey. This black and white thinking is simply not true, and creates the assumption that the few thousand 'enlightened' people on the earth are only truly happy. I'd rather embrace the up and downs than think that way about people.
