How To Drink Coffee Strategically

12 posts in this topic

I think everyone can see how addicted to coffee most people are. It's not that the beverage itself is bad, quite the opposite. If drank the right way it can be an amazing performance enhancing stimulant that improves your health as well. The problem is that the majority drink it randomly as they like it and thus become dependent of it. I've made a video on how to optimize your caffeine intake and drink coffee like a strategic motherfu*#er.

I'm not a frequent coffee drinker but I like to drink coffee in the morning to wake me up and decaf herbal tea at night so I can sleep well! I also drink coffee for the taste and for how great it awakens the mind and body.

Here are some articles on drinking coffee strategically

@brovakhiin It's a powerful stimulant indeed. That's why you have to consume it mindfully. I think that people simply fall victim to the great taste and satiety they get. As soon as they overstimulate themselves and become resistant to caffeine they begin to need it more and more.

@Zane Yes, I think it would be a mistake not to take coffee because it's just such a powerful performance enhancer. You simply have to do it strategically. Great articles.

Fruits are much more efficient form of long lasting energy and there is no crash when its gone.

Coffee is more for emergency quick boost and more of a short intense burst for those extreme situations.

I used to take it as pre-workout (black turkish coffee) very powerful worked better than bodybuilding pre-workout supplements but then my body started to rely on it for energy and i felt weak and drained without it.

@pluto I guess people metabolize carbs differently. Fructose itself is basically useless to the body because it can be metabolized only by the liver. It can only replenish liver glycogen stores and won't do so with muscle glycogen. The liver can only deposit 100-150 grams of glycogen, any excess fructose will be deposited as short-term fat.

I agree with you that coffee should be used for getting that extra kick into your workouts. But at the same time, you don't have to dose so strong with it and can drink it with less caffeine. This way you won't experience those jitters nor become dependent of it.

Well said, and from what i have learned and my experiences with almost every diet is that the humans body's ability to adapt is superior.

These days for energy i just make a smoothie with a mixture of fruits, greens, healthy fats(Chia, Hemp seeds ect..) and berries as a base Or Cacao/hot choc but i do enjoy organic coffee time to time.

I also heard about bulletproof coffee a while back, never really got into it myself. Would you happen to know any information about that?

I think it was something to do with mixing coconut oil or ghee with your coffee.

Coffee is a strong stimulant? thats news to me. seems pretty weak. both in effects and addiction.

Ever tried injecting amphetamines into your veins? thats a nice powerful preformance enhancer.

@pluto Yes, I know bulletproof coffee. You put butter/coconut oil/ MCT oil into your cup, blend it and drink it. Dave Asprey who coined this idea also uses his own brain octane oil, which is basically highly concentrated coconut oil. But in general, the recipe doesn't require anything else other than some pure source of fat.

What do I think about it? Well, it's both hype but it works at the same time. The satiety you get is quite amazing and gives you long-lasting energy., not to mention the great taste. It depends on what you're trying to accomplish by drinking it. Drinking bulletproof coffee is a quick and easy way to get some calories without having to eat or if you want to suppress hunger for many hours. It torches fat burning because it promotes ketosis but at the same time is still a source of calories, so you would have to be aware of how much you're consuming.

I think coffee is a tool, and one which when used wisely can be useful to us. The problem I see with it is the dependence people develop for it, and I was an offender like so many others. Up until recently I drank 2 cups of coffee a day - the first at 9.30am and the second at 2.30pm - and my body could almost tell the time by how close to wanting a coffee it felt. To cut a long story short, I recently changed those two coffees to cups of tea and feel better for it.

I have switched to Tazo Chai Tea. I like it a lot. It makes me really mellow and at the same time very focused. It's not the manliest of drinks, but hey Ying and Yang you know.

That's what I prefer to drink over the day now. And sometimes I will drink coffee strategically when I need some peak energy when I get rushed.
