What are some healthy seafoods?

8 posts in this topic

I know mussels are a big no-no 'cause they're basically filtering all the toxins and heavy metals.

Are there any seafood that is safe to consume?

What about shrimp, oyster and other fish?

Shrimp, squid, sardine have the lowest mercury levels.

Basically the smaller the seafood the less heavy metals it will have.

Dulse goes well with my soup. Try it. Chew the dulse like bread as you eat the soup. It makes for a nice combo.

@Rigel some time ago my answer would have been sardines, mackerel & wild Alaskan salmon. But now having looked into it deeper, I am losing faith in all seafood

Salmon - most of it worldwide is heavily polluted even wild Alaskan & Pacific one. Contaminated with mercury, arsenic, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) & organochlorine pesticides (OCPs)

Sardines - only trace amounts of mercury but extremely contaminated with PCBs & brominated flame retardants as well as arsenic

mackerel - similar to sardine

+ 100% of fish are contaminated with microplastics

Have it as a special treat food but I no longer agree with the suggestion that fish should be consumed 3 times a week.

Maybe once. Oh and yeah, seaweeds are fine same as algae oil.
