Is Intermittent Fasting > Productivity hack or distraction?

11 posts in this topic

I have fasted so far since 4PM (17 Hours) yesterday.

I felt more awake after less sleep (6.5 hours)

But I also feel hungry.

I lack the awareness to tell if I'm actually more productive or less, because I could be more focused but also distracted due to thinking about food.

So my main question is : Is Intermittent Fasting a clear cut productivity hack or not?

Does it just take time getting used to the hungry feeling, then maybe it stops becoming a distraction & pays off?

Or maybe it only works well for some people? Or maybe it's all Bullshit ?

From what I have experienced its not sustainable but like 1-2 times a week is probably healthy.

Depends on what is your aim.

If your aim is to gain higher awareness or to know your body more, then intermittent fasting is probably better than some tricks.

If your aim is to perform well at work, make more calls and initiate projects, then maybe not because when you are hungry, you tend to do less work to conserve energy.

It's natural thing to do. If you are adapted you shouldn't feel hunger. Working out after 17 hours of not eating isn't a problem for me.

agree with hyruga

what's your goals?
I've lost 10kg with 48hours of intermittent fasting.

I don't think it improves productivity.

You just  form new mental habits. And it helps you structure your day better.

Try and drink green tea and a bunch of water during the fasting window, the caffeine puts the hunger away.

I'm doing 18/6 and I feel way more focused when not eating.

If it's a struggle for you, perhaps don't do it. It seems to work best for people who are naturally not very hungry in the AM.

I did 16:8 for 1 1/12 years and it didn't have positive effects for me.

While doing it I thought that I have positive effects but once I stopped and ate normal again I was like wtf???

I started it because I read that it's healthy and it made sense to me but compared to now I had about 50% of my energy and I took like 2 naps a day lmao xD (I dont take any naps now and feel great all day)

The one thing I learned from it is a better feeling for hunger, now I wait with eating until I am really fucking hungry

e: I still think it can do good for some people but I for example dont like to eat big meals, I rather have more small ones and it sucks to eat like this in a smaller window

Increase patience muscle, "letting go" muscle

Enhance cognitive abilities, energy, focus, mood & mental clarity

Be able to guilt free reward myself with MacDonald's & Pizza 2/3 times a week Lol
