Is the body a disease?

8 posts in this topic

Supposedly Ramana Maharshi said that the 'the body itself is a disease' (in the context of his cancer, thus implying that the cancer was not something to be feel bad about). I guess it's one thing to say that the body is not you and unimportant, but why would he call it a disease?

No, it is godliness.

The body is whatever you want it to be. Can be a disease, sure. Can also be a temple. Or a vessle for light/love. Depends on how you interpret/view it and most importantly on how you treat it.

Of course in the greater schemes of things the body, including everything else, is a divine magical miracle manifested in the mind of God.

He means the body is a disease because it's finite. He's equating limitation with sickness. Probably he meant it poetically, not literally

Something that threatens the illusory ego. A story, though.

So disease is merely something that threatens the ego.

What is real?
