What Can I Laugh At?

19 posts in this topic

Hi guys recently I've realised, that your ego gets stronger when you laugh at a particular person or thing derogatorily, or a person laughing at you in the same manner, so what can I laugh at and joke around at? self deprecating humour will results in my ego dying but other around me growing. I've starting losing my sense of humour, am I allowed to laugh, now that I aim to get enlightened?

Don't hide stuff. Hiding it is counterproductive. You need to experience all you think about. You'll get a depression because of doing so but from that depression you'll get some powerful realizations. But if you hide it you won't get how wrong it was to laugh for example. Don't be afraid of ego getting stronger. It will get stronger anyways. The faster it grows the faster you'll realize how everything wrong with the ego. You think that something's funny and if you don't laugh it won't change anything. Maybe others won't know you laughed but you'll know.

Laughter is your decision to reject something. It is the antithesis of seriousness which ego is pretty much composed of... so your reasoning is flawed and your loss of humor is due to your ego.

An enlightened being has the ability to laugh at anything(or in spite of it). ?

What you resist, persists and less of you exists. There is a part of you that never leaves. You are not in; you have never been. You know. You put it there and time stretches.

My mentors, some online, some in person... I personally know about a half dozen of such people and it is common among them although me telling you this won't help you.

@Aamir King  Don't worry about what others do or not, just do whatever you feel is right. If you feel you are doing bad by laughing about someone else, don't do it. If you change your mind and you want to laugh later, laugh.

You don't have to overthink, that's ego's work. If there's something you need to transcend about laughter, you have to laugh your ass off before transcending.

:-)

I'm not sure that's true (self-depricating humour tends to be based on the mutual recognition of flaws, not other people laughing at your flaws), but even if it were it's not your responsibility to try to deal with other people's ego strength

@abrakamowse I don't understand why he is laughing so much, the joke wasn't that funny.

@Aamir King  When you start seeing truth, you invariably start laughing. Just keep on the road of truth and you too will easily break out laughing at the ridiculousness that seemed so serious before.

I love to laugh at bullies when they get payback because of that liberating catharsis and that inner schadenfreude! I also laugh at chronically angry people because the complete loss of control is hilarious because it's like watching a person become a screeching chimp. I love lashing out and laughing hilariously at Donald Trump because laughter and comedy is how I cope. His crude tactlessness is why he's so hilarious and you want him to implode and his ego and empire collapse. I believe that comedy can apply to all areas in life even at it's most dark and depressing! Trump is hilarious because he's a satire of Ugly America and one question i have is "is Trump just a persona meant to critique modern society or is Trump being horrible unironically and shamelessly?"

Laugh is contagious, he's laughing because the other guy become enlightened. When you realize the truth sometimes people laugh, because it's so obvious but at the moment you can see reality. When you finally see it you laugh (not everybody does that) but is a common thing.

They will laugh because a fly is flying, anything will make you laugh at that moment.

Papaji was Mooji guru , after Mooji's first enlightenment experience with a Christian Mystic he went to Papaji and Papaji finished him (his ego).

@Leo Gura sorry for being a nag, but I believe you know the most about this. (Dark side of meditation knowledge) . I'm thinking of simply analysing people's neurotic behaviour, instead of laughing along, is that fine, and what should I laugh at? I always see that you are happy within your videos(PROJECTION) what do you suggest I laugh at? I see you have a giggle or two in your videos, I would also like to, but I think it will prevent me from becoming the enlightened role model I want to become.
