How would you stop them if you're not there?

@Gesundheit

It was a bad self-help book. A psyche doesn't work that way.

Most of my thoughts have never turned into actions.

None of my actions have ever turned into patterns whatever the patterns are. My patterns were already established in my early childhood mostly by my parents. Same thing with the habits.

My identities were established in my early childhood as well.

My thoughts do NOT dictate who i am and my overall experience. They certainly are part of my experience but so are many other things.

I don't believe in this type of magical thinking. It's imported from the Usa and there are better self-help books around the world then the one you mentioned.

That's a thought that you can choose to change.

Well maybe I didn't word this artfully enough. When Paulo Coehlo speaks of the universe in that quote he certainly doesn't mean that other people conspire to help you. If you read the alchemist you will see that there's this implication that there's this higher power that's being referred to as "the universe" which coordinates human destinies on top of our own minds. In other words while we are part of all this and we certainly are able to care, the implication is that there's more to life than our own minds.

The universe, even to Paulo, whether or not it is said implicitly, represents all.

You can see this in the story of the alchemist with individual people and events guiding the main character from place to place, danger to danger. He's also giving credence to the mysterious way our life conspire in front of us. It's mysterious, but there's no doubting that we are "guided".

What do I mean by "guided"? I'm not sure. It probably has something to do with the brain's electrical impulses, animal instinct, the way we view the world, the weather, other people, thoughts, interactions, the stars, etc. etc. etc. It's entirely dependent on your mind, but is influenced by a myriad of 'external" factors. Without mind, you don't get to play the game. But with mind, you don't get to escape being guided.

If you've come to doubt the supernatural forces at work in the book... Then LMAO. It's a fantasy story. Those types of synchronistic events happen every day for those looking for them and "for those with the eyes to see them", otherwise it's just a kid following a vision he had in a dream with a strong message about finding happiness right where you are and the growth we experience along our journey.

Do you think this post conspired as a result of your own frustration of not being able to see the forest for the trees? You've put all this energy into a post to argue about a fantasy novel not being real life. Perhaps it's because you think other people see things or the universe in a supernatural way, but it's ultimately your desire to find the supernatural and failing to do so that "guided" you here. The universe is in fact supernatural. Super-natural. It's just nature buddy. Eventually you'll have to accept that there are in-fact, things that you do not know. Mysteries at play that are yet to be defined. Or that may never be defined.

What an egocentric point of view. The world doesn't revolve around one person and therefore one person doesn't have the responsibility to take care of the whole world especially of things that are beyond his scope of awareness. We are all here to do what we are all here to do. This is not about judging some hypothetical mental fantasies in the abstract, it's about how to deal with direct experience. I am not interested in answering questions such as "how would you stop the rape if you weren't born yet" or whatever because I am born and I am aware of rape and I am aware of the experiential quality of suffering and I am aware of the fact that suffering is an indicator of ignorance. The higher the level of suffering in a system the higher the level of ignorance. We have minds which are capable and are in fact compelled to bring more light into this dimension by dissolving ignorance and uplifting humankind as a result. To abdicate your ability to resonate, evaluate, be inspired and bring more light is a type of pseudospirituality and a conspiracy for mediocrity that is no different than watching TV all day and calling yourself spiritual.

Yes, it's true that I want the universe to be more than some meaningless quantum soup that gives masochistic nihilists a hard-on and that makes me biased. But it's not just about what I want at all. It's about how people with different world views act and what are the results of those actions. I see how atheistic and nihilistic communities are the most boring and uninspired ones who can't help but to look to others for revelation since their world view doesn't accept a higher power. I see how the highest beauty, innovation and excitement flows from the minds of people who look for inspiration beyond their materialistic beliefs and fears. I see how nihilism results in stagnation, mediocrity and stupidity and disconnectedness with feelings. And that's why I am resonating with that story because it's about more than nihilism, it's about love, passion, inspiration, beauty and fulfilling one's purpose. While the details are fictional, the core of it I feel to be authentic. I resonate deeply with it and then when I don't see that same level of beauty in my own direct experience or understanding of the universe I experience cognitive dissonance because then why else am I resonating with it if it's not authentic. I don't know. A life without inspiration is not worth living regardless of what truths there are to be discovered. Inspiration is the highest value.

Beautifully written, friend. We can't control others, but we can guide them and be guided by them. So if we don't take out seat at the table, we are simply guided and manipulated. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I agree that inspiration is of the highest value. I don't agree that without it, life isn't worth living, but that's simply because I don't want to cast an absolute out there. I hear what you're saying though. It's vital and needs to be protected.

If you're looking for some really cool inspiration, check out the SCP foundation website & YouTube readouts. Your imagination will go into overdrive with some of the content these pseudo-fictional entities are putting out. It's all fictional, but the mind wants all the inspiration it can get.

As i've said i don't believe in this type of magical thinking. The repressed unconscious material is the stuff that i need to work with if i want to really change myself.

you are here to evolve, not to have fun. it's obvious right? take advantage of the good but you will never be as happy as any bird. you are a soldier, brave and sacrificed who has lived ten thousand lives of suffering to achieve that this very complex being is perfected, is able to transcend the animal, then the man and approach the god. You have a mission to fulfill, a step to climb. if there is beauty on the way, fantastic! but it is obvious that enjoying is not the reason for our existence. If instead of beauty the cross awaits you, no problem! It is for a greater cause, you have chosen it. Neither the torture room nor the psychiatric cell scares you. They are just one more step. do not pursue happiness, you are not for that. chase the truth

I wasn't asking you that question.

It appears both of y'all didn't really read the post but took it out of context.

@Breakingthewall Infinite Happiness=Truth ;)

This talk. xD

Hah yeah! The truth is that only love exist. there is only an undifferentiated stream of happiness. but for some reason almost all humans superimpose on that a differentiated and structured current of suffering. I guess it will be for something. evolution is the only logical thing
