Sitting on heel burns!

4 posts in this topic

When placing the heel under the perineum and sitting on it in meditation, it hurts and creates a burning sensation on the heel from the pressure. You know similar sensation like when folding your leg under your body and sitting on it; it burns and falls asleep and circulation is cut.

It it supposed to hurt or go away after some practice or what?

Try finding a better sitting position. Your sitting position isn't supposed to hurt. If you want to sit in this kneeling position, get a little meditation bench.

I'm not sitting in a kneeling position. I'm am trying to sit the yoga way with "legs crossed" with left heel under the perenium. Siddhasana with cushion.

How important is the heel under perineum part? There is a variation of siddhasana without it https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siddhasana (half way down). That's the posture I usually do (Burmese style with cushion & bolster to raise me up), and I find it really comfortable.

Relax, it's just my loosely held opinion.  :)
