Disappointment In Life

7 posts in this topic

Why do I have more nihilistic thoughts now? the more enlightenment work I do the more nihilistic I become. 'Life is pointless' and similar thoughts are always in the back of my mind. This is a feeling of deep sadness. Is it like a stage you go through on your enlightenment journey or it's just me?

What’s amusing to me is that I’ve been making topics like these throughout the course of my spiritual “work” the past few months, and then I see people who are going through phases that I was going through not too long ago. Actually, I still deal with nihilism, but my answer to it is that yes: life is pointless. But at the same time, it’s also everything and it's guided. Existence is paradoxical unto itself, and there is no right or wrong way to view life, because every view is correct…and yet, wrong. If that makes sense. If it's true for you, then that's the way it is. You forge your own purpose, even if the purpose is to realize there is no purpose.

The more I work on myself, meditate, learn psychology the more evidence I get on how we all humans are the same. As if we have the same kind of software running inside our heads.

You are still very much attached to requiring a purpose. True meaninglessness is beautiful. It's like when children play, they do so without any purpose. Or like music, you don't listen just to get to the end of the piece. This is like your life, one big musical score sung for no other reason other than itself.

You may chose to assign meanings if you like, or set a life purpose, but realise that this is ultimately all play.

@YoungSeeker Definetely it's a phase. Keep practicing and you will have equanimity with don't know. Life naturally is beautiful, just the fact that you are conscious is a blessing. But sometimes our mind and our delusions get in the way of this fact.

Totally normal. I've done 100 hours of self-inquiry over the last 1.5 months and same thing is happening.

When I watched Leo's video on enlightenment I went through extreme confusion.

Strange enough when I first watched this video I was actually happy that I found something like that. Of course I turned it into belief system at first but I wasn't depressed somehow. I was really exited about it. Very strange:D
