Seafood healthy or toxic critters? ?

49 posts in this topic

I love having some shrimps or mussels from time to time.

But recently I've seen videos of those Thai waste consuming shrimp farms and ugh...

Also I realized mussels are pretty much livers in a shell. They are like a filter for all the crap that's in the water.

So goodbye my shramps. Or can anyone here link some good resources on how to pick the right seafood without breaking the piggy bank?

yeah, this sums up the answer to your question.

You could check out if your local waters have crabs in them. You can then get a fishing permit and start crabbing.

The bad side about crabs is that they must be cooked immediately after you kill them, because they begin to rot immediately. And if you dont have heart to kill one... Well, thats a problem too. Just dont kill them by throwing them into boiling water, stun them and pierce their brains first.

IMO shrimps and mussels are not worth it but oysters are awesome. There's also some evidence showing they don't feel pain much if at all. I'm a vegan right now but once I live somewhere where oysters are local and affordable, I will probably add 1 or 2 oysters a day into my diet.

If you consume seafood, take 3 pills of activated charcoal with your meal to soak up the metals. Not a perfect solution but better than nothing.

What dosage or range of dosage do you think is suitable?
