High Quality Spirituality

2 posts in this topic

Maybe others can relate.

there was a time when I was a boy of about seven or eight, and like any child I was very open minded. Fascinated even at that young age my spirituality and such.

I remember then that I really had two great sources of spiritual understanding:

1. Catholic school 2. The media... ghost shows... fantasy video games... etc.

i never thought for a moment that ghosts weren't real, and occasionally I could reconcile catholic religion class with my true interests by watching a documentary on history channel about exorcisms, or something.

in kindergarten or third grade or something I remember telling my friend about how god wasn't a person like us, but was nature itself; he didn't get it.

once I was at a sleepover and decided to perform voodoo magic on my sleeping buddy (I learned about voodoo magic from my favorite video game, pirates of the Caribbean online).

I was always a freak, but I managed to live in both worlds, and was a nice, popular boy with big plans, like being a zookeeper or a chef when I grew up.

I had a giant awakening to alternative religions when I was in 8th grade (I'd stopped trying to hex my friends by then, thank god). A friend of a friend introduced me to wiccan magick and psychedelics that cause you to leave your body. I was with my close buddies when this happened, and we were all a bit freaked.

I began to watch spiritual YouTubers pretty soon after that. I think my first spirit video was infinite waters' out of body experience video. I discovered actualized.org fairly quickly, and thought it was pretty cool. One thing led to another over the course of a few years  and now I meditate every day.

Its ironic because I was starting to let go of my weirder childhood beliefs in favor of "real life" and practical spiritual habits. Then leo made 4 videos on psychedelics and another on seeing ghosts and aliens when you meditate. I guess there's a legitimate place for weird things. Shit.

In regards to the nice and popular boy with big plans.

I've generally been conviced that I could achieve big things. I think my life purpose is to help others on the spiritual path. At 14 there was this realization that I was onto something special within myself. I was questioning deeply the regular assumptions such as physical reality, the desire for money, and all the negative states people assume are just par for the course of life. I figured I'd be an actor in groundbreaking films about the human condition, to be honest.
