Often/constantly hearing music in my head

7 posts in this topic

I constantly (or pretty often) hear music in my head. This music is a layer behind anything else in my thoughts, and I don't know how to stop it. I sometimes enjoy it, other times I feel neutral about it, but there are times when I really want to stop it and I get very nervous. Fortunately, I reduced the intensity of the music by stopping listening to rap/trap music (I don't know why this genre) but once in a while I remember a song and it's over for other thoughts...

I need some help, this is non a serious emotional problem but I'd like to get rid of this soon. So if you have some advice I'll be greatful.

Hey,

dont worry to much about it, I think that's pretty common. I also very often have some background music from songs I listen to playing in my head. For example right now John Mayer's Queen of California is playing ? stepping down down down...

I never had bad feelings about that and always vibe with it when I notice it :)

You will eventually forget about the songs you dont like if you stop listening to them and maybe you could fill your head with new awesome music!

The stream floats by, it seems, trying to grab the water, it just slips threw my fingers.

The how is what you build, the why is in your heart.

I think most people do not really pay attention to music in their heads, even tho it's widely spread phenomenon.
I would consider questioning yourself why don't you like it? Because in some sense it is quite stunning expirience, it shows you that you cannot control your thoughts and other "noise" in your head. It just happens to you and thats a absolutely beautiful and freeing type of feeling you can enjoy. Kind of determinism. But that does not mean that you can't stop it if you want, you just need to focus on other senses or just jailbreak it by reproducing other non-music "internal" sounds in your conciousness.
