What does selling your soul mean?

In terms of art you can also look at it as an artistic sacrifice - an artist 'selling their soul' by opting for a more mainstream sound for more $$$. Same concept but instead, its giving up authenticity

Kind of like selling your body, but worse. Your soul is the part of you that is not your body.

At the core it means exchanging yourself/love/power for a bit of relief.

You are exchanging with the devil = your ego.

You are giving away yourself to an entity you have imagined in exchange for relief/feeling better.

You keep doing this unconsciously until you have given away so much of yourself/love/power that it feels like you don't want to live anymore.

Everything seem to hurt. Everything triggers you.

Watch your emotional triggers. They are the devil trying to trick you into looking for more relief.

You might experience depressions and dark nights. This is part of the price you have to pay. You are in hell.

When you have realized and accepted what you have done, it's time to pay the price.

You pay by allowing yourself/love/power back into you. By fully seeing and accepting yourself.

It was not your fault, it was nobody's fault. It was all the devils work. But you have to pay.

Allow all the feelings, thoughts and sensations to pass through you.

It feels like you are going crazy. You are not. You are going sane.

Everyone and your ego will tell you that you are going crazy.

Don't believe them. They are playing tricks to keep you stuck in hell.

When you have fully paid. You are fully yourself again. You are free. Free from suffering. Free from the devil.

You will never make the same mistake again.

Selling your soul, in all the parables, never turns out well  There is wisdom in parables. Consciousness loves its stories, and it communicates truth to "us" through them. The greatest teachers realize the power of parables, and leverage it. Parables are a collect call to ourselves.

Choosing to sacrifice ultimate happiness for short term gain is quintessential shortsightedness. What fool would make such a deal?

As it turns out, all of us are fools, until we finally see the snake oil deal for what it is. Selling your soul is sacrificing your Self-awareness, to satiate the ego's lies. Instead, realize your soul. You are already infinitely abundant, and nothing worth anything needs to be sold ?
