Try to pay attention to what is right here and right now. I come from a Christian background and found it difficult initially to let go of the dogmatic idea of God that I'd been taught by the Church and the surrounding culture. It's hard, but you have to try and drop all of those ideas before you can start to make progress. Imagine coming into non-duality like a child, with no preconceived ideas of what you're looking for.
