Gamestop stock situation

Why project nefarious intent on people who are only trying to create a financial change for themselves through a legal publicly available opportunity?

It's the establishment financiers who have been behaving sketchily for decades through their dealings and lobbying for regulatory advantages so we should be questioning them about their deeds not the individual investors who are only doing what the market is there for. Just because the source of their communications is social media and not board rooms doesn't make it less credible or imbued with ill intent.

The trading apps are now circling the wagons and protecting the establishment by halting trading for retail traders but I'm sure the hedge funds don't have the same limitations. Again these financial 'gangs' have behind the scenes lobbied for and been granted advantages so they can protect from accountability and exploit for profit that the individuals traders don't enjoy the advantages but are actually getting excluded from.

Are these a 'publicly traded' corps or not? Only when the few can enjoy the fruits of it but as soon as the masses are in the field picking the crops then it's a problem? Hmmm...who is nefarious now?

That's exactly correct. Reddit, Discord, and Robinhood will all be forced to self-regulate this mob activity. Because it is toxic behavior.

And so the tempest in a teapot ends.

These daytraders are creating bubbles that will hurt many of their own and the company like GameSpot too. All these stocks will come crashing down on their heads.

That doesn't matter.

These day traders are no heros. Daytrading is scum itself.

It's like you are cheering a bunch of rapists to rape a bunch of murderers and calling that justice.

@Leo Gura It’s Karma

?

I really don’t see so bad people buying stock, it is bad IMO to play with short sell and that greedy tactics.

I think the comparison you are doing is not valid.

Its true that the reddittors are buying stock and adding value to them but is also true that Game Stop did some game changing decisions and people was paying attention to that and decided to buy.

Now this actions are punishing Wall Street hedge fund companies, but that’s because of their actions. They know is super risky to do that short selling stuff.

Maybe I’m wrong. But I don’t see anything bad in people buying stocks.

Exactly. Mark Cuban said this morning that targeting short sales is a common practice amongst hedge funds. But now that the people are doing it all of a sudden is wrong.
Society relies a lot on people being quite and obedient. Shaming and bullying them is not going to accomplished that. They are just poking the bear.

It's karma when the bubble bursts and many of these daytraders get screwed.

It's karma when these platforms deplatform these daytraders.

Daytraders add no value. They are theives and leeches the same as hedge fund managers.

These same daytraders you worship dream of being hedge fund managers, if only they had the capital to do it.

Yes, you are wrong. It's not just people buying stocks. It's mass manipulation of stocks to create bubbles that will crash on people's heads.

Keep in mind that GameStop was artificially suppressed by hedge funds massively shorting the stock down to about $10. So the true value is probably more like $100. Much of the skyrocketing price increase is due to short covering.

It's like hedge funds pushed a beach ball under water and reddit knocked it out of their grip. The ball will return to the surface, overshoot into the air and then return to the surface. Then it could go back underwater as their is selling panic and speculative shorts entering.

Without the massive leverage, the beach ball would be rising and descending with the waves. It wouldn't be getting pushed underwater and rocketed into the air.

I have no sympathy for the hedge funds and this is a form of wealth re-distribution. Yet rather having the wealth distributed to day traders, I'd prefer the government create a stock selling tax and use the revenue to fund things like M4A.

There should be a different way to invest in companies. The whole Wall Street thing is a big Casino. It’s crazy.

The long term fundamentals of GameStop ain't good. It's basically Blockbuster during Netflix. GameStop may not even exist in 10 years as all games will go full digital.

GameStop is a pretty shitty company. Which is why it was shorted to begin with.

That's the nature of investing. It's always extremely manipulative.

They are doing some changes like a deal with Microsoft to sell games online, like an streaming service if I understood well.  They want to go digital. That’s why people is betting on them.

So buying a publicly traded stock as the market and the apps used as brokers are designed and intended for is the same thing as openly calling for violence and discrimination on others that is against the ToS of the platforms they are using? Hmmmm....interesting.

Too little too late. They offer no fundamental value. They are a middleman.

Blockbuster 2.0

Steam already has the online game market cornered.

Well, its not like GME stock buyers are storming capitols, threatening to murder politicians,  and discrediting fair and free elections etc.

I get your point but the comparison isn't that strong
