I get you. But then again I guess you can't have zero self-bias and continue to exist. As self to survive you need to have certain aversions against some stuff in order to survive (death and sickness for example).

I believe this is correct.  The point I don’t think is to “kill” the ego, but to tame it.

What gives you real serenity and peace of mind?

Addition by subtraction.  Throw out what you don't need, what is false, and you have serenity and peace of mind.

It's not what you're missing, it's what's weighing you down.

Happiness = boundarielessness = union = non-duality

This happens in the 3rd eye chakra. Everything is mirrored in the 3rd eye chakra. If you feel joy, pleasure, love or comfort, our 3rd eye chakra opens and we become boundless for a split second.

Enlightenment is pure boundarielessness and is therefore pure, perfect happiness. The boundarielessness we feel from the comfort that we feel from shitting and eating is the exact se happiness we feel during spiritual enlightenment.

The road to God is paved with bliss.

@zeroISinfinity Exactly. Or perhaps self-realization refers to an intellectual facet of enlightenment. Creating a duality between spiritual happiness and cardinal happiness is unhealthy. The understanding that they are the same is the basis for discernment/wisdom

So eating tacos=Self realization

I can attest to this. I ate a taco yesterday and it became totally self realized.

It's all programed into you from the beginning.. Stuff like a good meal.. Sexual orgasm.. Socializing.. Entertainment.. Etc pull the switch of dopamine in your brain and that basically makes you happy...

Pleasure and happiness. Is there a difference between the two?

@Breakingthewall

You're confusing happiness with fulfillment.

Happiness is a concept that buys into our sense of lack.

Drop the chase for happiness.

Think more about raising good feelings in your body and what that means.

I don't know how to answer this question. They are surely linked together (I think this is obvious enough). Yet they are not mutually exclusive either.

Happiness:  The end of the need for anything to be other than what it is.

“Everything is honoured, but nothing matters.” — Eckhart Tolle.

"I have lived on the lip of insanity, wanting to know reasons, knocking on a door. It opens. I've been knocking from the inside." -- Rumi
