@Northern soul In most cases no I wouldn't say so. Newbies have a lot of attachments to the ego, which make it difficult to achieve ego dissolution/ego death.

If your life sucks too much then maybe. Read the new earth and see if everything is the same after you finish it. But ego is not something bad. You just need to see it clearly for what it is, the fact that you are not only it, rest in the feeling of peace that pointers take you and decide to live in the now. The thing is that not so may people are ready for this and i certainly wasn't. If your life is good then enjoy your life. No need to do anything with your ego just because someone talks about it. Attempt it when you feel that you had enough.
