Considering the digital marketing field

10 posts in this topic

After spending some time on the life purpose course, I grew fond of the idea of digital marketing. It seems like a way for me to use my skills in a creative sense in order to help promote people and things. In a way, I could feel like I am helping others by promoting their work.

but I came across one of the videos on being a creator vs a competitor. And Leo discussed being in an online marketing business and feeling like it was too competitive and he wasn't creating enough. This former career of his sounds similar to the one I find interest in.

Am I already setting myself up for failure by entering this area and pursuing it? Should I focus on something less competitive? I am still new to the field of digital marketing.

@Axiomatic You're getting way too hung up in trying to do everything perfectly in the perfect order.

Even leo admitted that he started off in a competitive business. You just need momentum at first.

You can certainly make good money in competitive fields, it's just perhaps you'll want to gradually create an exit strategy as you're doing the digital marketing so you can wean off it if it's not fulfilling.

& Perhaps there's a way you could combine digital marketing with providing massive value for society, who knows.

There's no right or wrong answer. If the competitive field is the fastest option you have to bootstrap yourself into something more fulfilling, then do it. Also if it's the best option to fulfil your basic needs & achieve financial independence then do it.

Ultimately listen to your own intuition & decide on something for the next 1-3 years, you've got time to journal on the side & figure things out.

Digital marketing most definitely is not the life purpose itself; that statement is something beyond earth, something deeply rooted in your nature. However, digital marketing may be a great medium for delivering your message, i.e. your life purpose, to the world. Your life purpose may more likely lean towards the latter part of the sentence:

If this is something that truly chimes, explore that calling deeper. Delve into it with good appetite and passion. Your life purpose may be buried in there somewhere. Spoiler: How "greatly" you define your life purpose comes in degrees. Deep down, it'll always end up being Love. You may try approaching it backwards.

If marketing is something that appeals to you, then you are not a creative person to begin with so there's no problem here :P

@Leo Gura I am a living counterexample, though. Always been very creative, also fascinated with psychology and therefore marketing.

Perhaps you mean "artsy" people specifically?

But still. Brainstorming marketing angles and strategies just gets my creative juices going. I loved creating the design for an ad, for example.

well, marketing and sales is highly results focused, in that way it is more into the money. But still, it requires a certain level of creativity to make it happen successfully.

i do agree. earlier today i saw an ad at the bus stop: "masks, put on you berliners"

i was thinking if they are going through a "checklist" like:

-put things up-side down
-seeing things as what they are

and so on or if they just spontaneously come up with it.

Hi there! Internet marketing is a very interesting and perspective sphere. It requires creative thinking and mathematical analytics. The pandemic shows us how important internet marketing is and how good promotion influences business success. Nevertheless, there are very few trustworthy companies like WebJuice that are doing their job professionally. They are always into finding new SEO solutions and developing unique scenarios for every client. I am following them online and read their useful articles and tips they give. As a future SEO marketing specialist, I want to compare myself with such companies that create worthy products.
