Why isn't China regulating their wet markets better?

I assume it's a complex issue. 

But since we're aware several viruses and infections in the past came out of these wet markets that sell exotic animals, why is nobody doing anything about it? 

I have a feeling every couple of years some new virus excalates from China and everyone is like "Meh, classic". I mean, doesn't it also serve their interest if they regulate their wet markets? 

If that's their cultural tradition, I understand it's hard to just stop with it, and it would be insensitive. But could it be done more safely?

They said they'll stop eating dogs so that's something. 

Regulations have started they don't do it in the main spots any more but you can still find it in the back alleys.

Idn if it's hard to regulate all of it or they just don't care that much.

But I don't judge them too much because if I was hungry enough I would definitely eat all those animals and I guess over time that would turn into a culture and I wouldn't think about it.

@somegirl All exotic animals are banned now after covid in China, and you go to jail if you sell them. China is not the only country that used to sell or eat exotic animals tho, plenty of other countries eat weird stuff. Most Chinese people don't eat exotic animals and are disgusted by them. Only a very small number of rich people do. The sheer size of the population increases the chance of the virus developing and mutating. Covid actually most likely started in Europe in early 2019, then it mutated to a much more dangerous version when it got to China. We don't know for sure if the virus came from bats sold in wet market in China. It is still being researched.

It's more likely that covid-19 is a lab leak.
