Cracked Phone screen & Mercury

My phone screen has a deep crack 

You can see part of the chip or battery sticking out at the bottom

I have used this phone like this for weeks 

In andy cutlers mercury detox guide he mentions broken phones 

Is this dangerous? I will post a photo of the phone on here when I get home
