I just watched part 1 of leos self deception. Has Leo written a book about self deception? Can anyone give any recommendation for self deception books? I want to know about the subject more.

This book is about self observation but the author bares his soul in admitting to a deeper level of self deception such  that I found it to be helpful for me on the topic mentioned.

Below Martin Butler recommends this book as well. The book and the video as well are Fourth Way oriented so some of the jargon may be unfamiliar. Taken on their own though, I think they would be helpful for those who are really sincere in catching a glimpse of their self deceptions. It’s often tangled with a psychological blind spot which in the Fourth Way is called one’s chief feature and associated with “buffers”.

@Rilles I'm not kidding. Self-deception is the single biggest self-deception of them all.

Think about it; Why would anyone label certain mental activities a self-deception? Unless you're deluded with that illusory concept of self-deception in the first place, self-deception doesn't actually exist in your direct experience.

The better route of action is increasing awareness. Awareness, on the contrary to self-deception, does not contradict self-love, and so it heals the self instead of demonizing it.

@ucan99 “Mistakes were made, (but not by me).” It’s on Leo’s booklist.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie
