resistance vs awareness

4 posts in this topic

i am thinking a lot about this recently and ever since i removed discipline from my eating habits and implied awareness, i am starting to slowly eliminate all the chocolate and bad stuff, not everything ofcourse but slowly shifting

this made me think: should i not resist anything in life and just apply awareness to it ?

for example i stopped playing fortnite ∵ it's a hedonistic activity - and it made sense - but does that mean that i should stop it, right ! i should just apply awareness to all my activities and all the bad ones will flush out eventually right ? ∵ for example with fortnite i am resisting playing it and i am ∴ missing it so this is a type of resistance.

so should all resistance be unresisted and just be aware of ?

I’ve found resistance may arise when I exit my comfort zone. It’s not something I can simply decide “I’m not going to resist anymore”. It’s programmed into my body. Observing that resistance has some benefit. At times I can let it go. Yet resistance can mean that I’m resisting something. Perhaps taking some action or looking at something. Breaking through the resistance can be beneficial. Fir example, there may be resistance to meditating or going to deeper levels with yoga. Sometimes it’s good to poke, provoke, confront and elevate.

In a similar situation. I have no idea what's best though. I don't want to force myself to do stuff all the time, but at the same time - alot of my motivation comes from an obligation and not love. If I where to stop, my life would fall down. Maybe it has too, in order to build it up though.

I'll be following this thread for answers aswell!
