Seeing a pair of eyes in a half dream state?

This is a recurrent thing which I get every now and then.

I'm asleep, then I get a strong sensation that I'm flying without control like crazy (no visuals), I feel terror and I struggle, and then the weirdest thing: I see a pair of eyes. And then I wake up.

I'm not sure about the correct order, maybe I see the eyes first, and then the other stuff happens.

The thing about the eyes is weird because I see them visually. I can't see that way in dreams. So because of that I know that the eyes thing isn't just a normal dream, there's something more to it, it has a good chunk of reality to it.

But I can't see any details about the eyes.

It's quite scary when it happens.

What could it be?
