Physiognomy (face reading)

Does face reading provide any real significance to understanding our personality and our strengths and weaknesses? 

 The outer surface of my ear has a small deformity to it and according to this teaching I'm supposed to have a long list of problems.  

If this teaching has any truth to it, how do they know the corresponding body parts to organs and personality traits?
