After death? (analogy)

31 posts in this topic

So.. What will happen after the body dies ?

Answer :It will slowly decompose.. until all that’s left is the bones. And eventually mud.

That’s not what you want to ask though. What you want to ask is: what happens to your individual consciousness after death?

Answer: it undergoes dilution.

A similar question could be posed about a cup of water. What happens to this specific water if it is thrown back into a lake?

A similar fate awaits your individual consciousness.

Body is a thought. Death is a lie. Investigate the direct experience, self-inquiry to the rescue :P:D

Your birth is just a thought. You think that you have a body thats a thought too. You are already what you are, but dreaming the world of thoughts. You think that eyes see anything? Or is there such a thing as an eye? Right now is before birth, if you dont name, put meaning and label any thoughts, even the word of ”thought “. If you never learn or think, you are before birth. How was the before birth, you didn’t know anything, that’s actually where you at now. How is impossible to know something? What is knowing? What is “me”? Maybe “I” learned the word of “me”, thats why “i” am “exist”. “i” “learned” “word” of “exist” too.

In other words you will become everything. Merge back into the all.

when you die your ego and all the illusion you think you are disappears, erased, bye, as if it never existed. what else happens? nothing more. the infinite that you are continues as it is at this precise moment: immutable. you are irrelevant, detach yourself from your i because it is nothing. complete detachment is the answer.

I was hypothesizing that when we die, we won't remember we were ever alive.  Everyone that knows us will also all die and not remember that they were ever alive either (so do whatever the heck you want - you won't remember it anyway, you'll just have to live with the circumstances till death).

We all tend to procrastinate our own inevitable death.

Any children we have will just die too.

Eventually, life will not find a way - there will be one more problem than there are solutions and all of "life" will die.

However life can be reborn when the right ingredients for life come together and so all of life has probably been wiped out and recreated an infinite number of times.

Yeah it's quite radical and can be shocking.

That which is concerned with death already isn't :o

Where is this you that will apparently merge? Can you put your finger on it?

Or is you more of a thought?

Yes that's what's happening.

It's Because there isn't a seperate "you".. You are already merged with everything.. Right now and after so called death.

It really depends. You can say the body is you. The consciousness that lives through your body is you. It's not inclusive to thoughts. There is an experience of a body and a world.. Duh?... That whole experience (all of reality) is you. Ofcourse no "thing" is in the center of it all.. And that's why you are merged with it. And since it will neve die.. You will never die.

If by death you just mean death of the phsyical body... no, consciousness does not dissolve after that.

Subtle bodies are real and you can become conscious of them thourgh specific practices.

@Fran11 seems like I was quite vague. I need to explain what I meant. Simply you will dissolve into the all. Like how that finite shaped water in the glass dissolved into the lake. It BECAME the lake. Same thing. When you die you will become all of reality. Your ingredients will merge back into the all and so you will become one with the universe. As you already are.

@Someone here "There is nothing and there will never not be nothing", I once thought. I have had experiences of perceiving myself to be immortal, but I'm not in those states and it's a memory. It would be what they call "the void". If I really open myself up to it it's still there.

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

@lmfao nailed it. Death is the realization that your life never happened. (as you know it "separate").

Yes. My point was that it will take more than just the death of the physical body to dissolve in the way you describe, duality extends beyond the superficial "phsycial" reality.

Your body is not physical tho and this is not a physical reality. That's just a thought. Spiritual vs physical is a duality. Let it go.

That's why I used brackets smartass :P

"Physical" is just a way of calling a very "dense" form of consciousness, there are less dense levels as well.
