A Constant Enlightenment

10 posts in this topic

Simple question I'm asking for your opinion on here.

We've all had our own Glimpses/Experiences/Moments of the Truth of Reality.

But is there a Finality? Is there a state when the Fire is Blown Out and What Remains... Remains? Thoughts?

Most people confuse enlightenment with Nirvikalpa Samadhi but they are not the same. Enlightenment is when we become aware of our ego but the ego doesn't die. We start to see reality differently from the average person because our ego doesn't control us. In Nirvikalpa a person can experience Absolute Infinity, like the way Leo did. Enlightenment can happen at the same time as Samadhi but not necessarily. A person can achieve enlightenment without Samadhi. Enlightenment is easier to achieve.

@Deep Interesting, I want to investigate this further myself. Where did you find this information? What did you google/read/watch?

 The ego cannot be enlightened, just as darkness can not become light.  It is part of your nonaliveness or partial aliveness, part of your unconsciousness.

@Yang Noctus

Here is Rupert Spira talking.

@Prabhaker I never said the ego can be enlightened. I said our true self becomes separate from the ego and we become aware of it's dirty little tricks. A so-called "enlightened" person like yourself should be able to read between the lines instead of doing mental masturbation. (no offense) I know how it feels and it can't be described to anyone.

Ego is the false substitute that you have created for the true self. Enlightenment happens only when ego is no more.

I agree with this, and would like to co-elaborate a little further.  The ego is the True Self under the spell of ignorance (apparent mythia) that is manifest ignorance (thought projections of tendencies) from the causal body being continually dumped into the subtle body which in turn causes agitation and appears as either a fear or desire to end the agitation.  So off the ego goes on its quest to chase some apparent object to temporarily quell its feeling of lack.

Its also very sneaky game, like a dog chasing its own tail because it cannot see that what it is chasing is nothing but it's own rear end lol while liberation is waiting there all the time in the form of the Self, if only it rested in awareness!

Enlightenment does not mean the end of the ego, the ego is still there as an enjoyer, but it is not doing anymore to enjoy the fruits of its ultimately pointless activity, it still acts but remains unfooled by mythia.

All of this can be verified in your own experience

@Prabhaker That's not the definition most people are using on here. Ramana Maharshi was saying the ego can only be destroyed in Nirvikalpa Samadhi. When Nirvikalpa Samadhi becomes permanent it is called Sahaja Samadhi. Are all of these people experiencing Sahaja Samadhi all the time? If they were, they wouldn't be here and they aren't really enlightened but fooling themselves. Only a few people achieve Nirvikalpa Samadhi because it's extremely HARD. I'm just helping people clarify enlightenment.
