Do Enlightened People Get Diseases?

5 posts in this topic

Hello, I am 12th grade student, who is passionate about self-development. Since 9th grade I have started to work seriously on myself and discovering my life purpose, planning my career and etc. So I managed to realize my goal in life and it is to create higher consciousness business, like working in food development using nanotechnology, which can actually increase food nutritious value, producing self renewable materials and more science related businesses. I even learned some programming skills, because I will apply them for creating mobile apps and I already have a team for doing that. This will earn me a lot of capital. Also, from 10th grade I was watching Leo’s videos and found them helpful and really profound, but also while practising meditation and mindfulness I started to realize that human life is really precious and even small experiences of meditation are really fascinating. So that is then I got interested in medicine, as the career to safe people lives... Of course I understand that majority of people eat unhealthily, do not exercise hard and not now much facts about proper diet, but there are still small percent of people, who do all that and get chronic diseases, like cancer. I am especially interested in cancer, because with all known data I realize that the chances of getting it even after all prevention had been made are still high. And that drives me to change my life purpose and become a cancer surgeon, a more easily achievable career, but which has so value in it… However, I still have a feeling, that there should be a way to prevent chronic illnesses, because even Sadhguru tells that it is possible to prevent chronic diseases, by knowing the “source of creation”. So also the main question which I want to ask is “Do enlightened people, who developed massive amount of awareness can get chronic ailments?
P.s. I actually didn't know there should I post this topic, I see this part of forum really popular and many people, who do self inquiry and also meditation practises post here :)

@wellbranding Any sense of well being is going to effect your overall immune system in positive ways. Stress is a big factor too. No self= no stress for the enlightened.  I was wondering the other day about the effectiveness of meditation on Multiple Sclerosis.  The immune system attacks the nervous system. Could just meditating be beneficial to slow progression of certain diseases?  All important questions. Keep up the good work!

That's like asking, do mathematicians get diseases?

There is no difference between any enlightened person and yourself.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

@wellbranding Sometimes it happens that enlightened persons are more ill than unenlightened ones. Ramakrishna died of cancer; Raman died of cancer.  There are reasons…. Now that they don’t belong to the body, they don’t co-operate with the body; deep down they have broken themselves from the body. So the body remains but the attachment and the bridge is broken.

Buddha died of food poisoning. He suffered for six months continuously. For Buddha himself, illness and health were the same. That doesn’t mean that illness will not give pain. It will! Pain is a physical phenomenon, it will happen. But it will not disturb the inner consciousness. The inner consciousness will remain undisturbed, it will remain as balanced as ever. The body will suffer, but the inner being will remain just a witness of the whole suffering.
